It was only a small step from our “Duo Sweet 17” to the “Ensemble Per Questa Bella Mano”. We were lucky enough to find two exeptional musicians who have constantly nurtured, throughout their careers, a deep love of music and of performing and sharing their art with audiences all over the world : Naoko Ogura (violin and viola) and Shiho Nishimura (cello).
The original reason for starting a small ensemble was a very practical one: for Korneel’s doctorate at the Brussels Conservatory (which is an artistic doctorate, entitled "Building Bridges" and involving research into performance practice) we needed a group that would make it possible to perform concerts of original music from different periods and in different combinations of instruments.
Most of all, we needed not only top notch musicians, but people who share our ideals of building bridges. Bridges between musicological research and present-day performance, between audience and performer, between instrument makers and performers, and so on.
When necessary, other musicians can be added to the quartet for certain pieces.
The name of our ensemble is actually the title of Mozart’s concert aria KV 612 “Per Questa Bella Mano”, in which the Viennese Violone has a very important solo obbligato. It was the first piece Korneel played in the original Viennese Tuning, almost thirty years ago, and thus the starting point of a fascinating life in music.
We want to play concerts and make recordings in which the music really “speaks” and tells a story, in which communication is more than just a word. Concerts that make a difference. Performances in which musicians and audience undertake a journey, and discover beauty. Together. Let’s make it happen.
アンサンブル “ペル クエスタ ベラ マーノ”の誕生は、私たちにデユオ スイート17にとっての次への小さなステップでした。音楽を心から愛し、常に前進し続ける2人の素晴しい音楽家達、小倉直子さんーバイオリン、ビオラーと、西村志保さんーチェローとの出会いがあって、初めて実現のできた夢でした。
アンサンブルを結成しようと考えたきっかけは、コルネルのブリュッセル王立音楽院においての芸術博士号習得の為に必要とされる、各種ピリオド楽器によってのコンサートを実現させる為、という事からでした。
メンバーは皆経験豊かな音楽家というばかりではなく、橋を架ける- Building Bridges-という夢を共有しています。例をあげますと、音楽学としての様々なリサーチと現実に演奏する音楽家達を繋げる橋、演奏家と観客を結ぶ橋、楽器造りの職人と演奏家との間に架ける橋、などです。
必要に応じて、このアンサンブルは編成を増やすことも行っていく予定です。
アンサンブルの名前、ペル クエスタ ベラ マーノ は、モーツアルトのコンサートアリア KV612 ” Per Questa Bella Mano “ に由来しています。このアリアでは、ウイーンチューニングコントラバスがとても重要な役割を果たしています。そして、この曲は今から30年ほど前にコルネルが初めてウイーンチューニングと出会い、演奏をし、こよなくウイーン式バスを愛するようになったきっかけになった曲でもあります。
私たちの夢は、言葉よりも深い”音楽”を通して、物語を語ることです。
今までに無いコンサートの形、、 演奏を通して音楽家と観客が一緒に未知の世界へはばたき、一緒に美を発掘する、、、これがこのアンサンブルの願いです。Let’s make it happen.
Per Questa Bella Mano is het enige ensemble in zijn soort ter wereld. Voornamelijk (maar niet uitsluitend) toegespitst op het Weense klassieke repertoire met kontrabas heeft Per Questa Bella Mano tot in het buitenland een reputatie opgebouwd door de kwaliteit en de originaliteit van zijn vertolkingen.
Oprichters Korneel Le Compte (Kontrabassen, Violone, Gamba) en Haruko Tanabe (Viola d’Amore, Viool, Altviool), beiden ook lid van Duo Sweet 17, hebben zich omringd met enkele musici die tot de top behoren in hun vakgebied, zoals Naoko Ogura (Barokviool), Shiho Nishimura (Barokcello) of Kimiko Nishi (Klavecimbel en Pianoforte) en brengen samen met hen warme, aantrekkelijke en originele concerten van het hoogste niveau.
De virtuositeit die vereist is om dit repertorium goed uit te voeren impliceert dat slechts weinige solisten en ensembles artistiek overtuigende programma’s kunnen brengen met deze stukken.
De manier waarop de muziek aan het publiek wordt voorgesteld is één van onze grote prioriteiten. Het belang van een intieme muzikale band met de toehoorder is een hoofdbekommernis. Elk concert wordt een vorm van communicatie tussen uitvoerder en luisteraar.
Ensemble Per Questa Bella Mano en Duo Sweet 17 leggen momenteel de laatste hand aan een reeks CD’s. Binnenkort kan u opnames verwachten van Sperger, Ariosti, Hoffmeister, Stamitz, Mozart, Casadesus en vele anderen.
Per Questa Bella Mano est le seul Ensemble au monde dans son genre. Nous nous consacrons principalement (mais pas exclusivement) au repertoire classique Viennois avec contrebasse. L’ensemble est reconnu mondialement pour la qualité et l’originalité de ses interprétations.
Les fondateurs Korneel Le Compte (Contrebasses, Violone, Viole de Gambe) et Haruko Tanabe (Viola d’Amore, Violon, Alto), membres également du Duo Sweet 17, se sont entourés de musiciennes qui comptent parmi les meilleures dans leur domaine, telles que Naoko Ogura (Violon et Alto baroque), Shiho Nishimura (Violoncelle baroque) ou Kimiko Nishi (Clavecin et Pianoforte). Ensemble ils produisent des concerts et des enrégistrements chaleureux et attirants du plus haut niveau.
En raison de la virtuosité requise pour interpréter ce repertoire de façon convaincante il n’y peut y avoir que très peu de musiciens ou d’ensembles qui soient capables de proposer des programmes comme les nôtres, surtout parce que nous essayons d’établir à travers la musique un contact intime avec le public. Chaque concert devient une forme de communication entre musiciens et auditeurs.
L’Ensemble Per Questa Bella Mano et le Duo Sweet 17 réalisent en ce moment une série de CD de leur repertoire : bientôt on pourra vous proposer des enrégistrements d’oeuvres de Sperger, Ariosti, Hoffmeister, Stamitz, Casadesus, Mozart et bien d’autres.

Naoko was born in Hiroshima. At the age of 3 years she began to play the violin and after her schooltime in Nara she studied at the University of fine Arts in Kyoto. After graduating in Japan, she went to Germany to continue her musical education at the Leipzig Academy of Music and Theater. There she graduated with distinction in the concert exams for Violin and Chamber music.
Since she came to Europe she has been studying and working on the baroque violin. She was trained in the department of Historical Music Interpretation in Leipzig as well as in courses in Italy, and graduated in baroque violin at the Leipzig Academy. In 2007 she won second prize in the Bonporti International Competition for Baroque Violin in Rovereto (Italy).
Naoko Ogura was a first violinist with the Berner Symphonie-Orchester from 2001 till 2006 and second concertmaster from 2006 till 2011, when she moved to Brussels. Besides her activity as an orchestra player, she works as a chamber musician and soloist in many European countries and in Japan.
小倉直子
広島県生まれ。奈良県立奈良高等学校、京都市立芸術大学音楽学部を卒 業後、渡独。ドイツ国立ライプツィヒ音楽演劇大学オーケストラディプロマ取得後、更に同大学院のヴァイオリン科、ならびに室内楽科にてさらに研鑽を積み、最優秀賞獲得で終了。同大学古楽科ではバロックヴァイオリンでもディプロマを取得。２００７年、イタリア、ロヴェレート
のボンポルティコンクール、バロックヴァイオリン部門において最高賞（１位なしの２位）を獲得。
２００１年、スイスベルン交響楽団に第一ヴァイオリン奏者として入団、２００６年より同交響楽団第２コンサートマス ターを務める。２０１１年、同交響楽団を退団し、拠点をブリュッセルに移す。ソリスト、室内楽奏者、オーケストラ奏者として日本、ヨーロッパの各地で演奏活 動中。
Shiho Nishimura
The Japanese cellist Shiho Nishimura graduated from Osaka College of Music (Japan), the Conservatoire de Lausanne (Switzerland), and the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf (Germany). She studied with Mineo Hayashi and Johannes Goritzki. She followed the masterclasses of David Geringas and Bernard Greenhouse.
Shiho performed as a soloist with several orchestras (Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Klassische Philharmonie Bonn etc..) and has given many recitals in Europe and Japan. She worked at the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn (cello solo).
She is a prizewinner of the first International Competition for Chamber Music in Trondheim (Norway).
Currently she is a chamber musician and concertist based in Brussels, Belgium.
Mrs. Nishimura is also a member of the Cello Octet “Ô-Celli”.
西村 志保
大阪音楽大学器楽学科に特待生入学、首席で卒業。その後スイス・ローザンヌ音楽院、ドイツ・シューマン音楽大学を卒業。1999年にローザンヌ室内管弦楽団とチャイコフスキーの「ロココの主題による変奏曲」を協演しヨーロッパデビュー。クラシッシェ・フィルハーモニー・ボンの首席チェロ奏者としてドイツ各地およびスペイン各地で演奏、同管弦楽団との協演は、毎度ゲネラルアンツァイガー紙にて絶賛される。ノルウェーの「第１回トロントハイム室内楽コンクール」第３位受賞。日本、ドイツ、オランダにてソロ・リサイタルを定期的に開催。これまでに林峰男、ヨハネス・ゴリツキ各氏に師事。D・ゲリンガス、B・グリーンハウス各氏等のマスタークラス受講。
現在、ベルギー・ブリュッセルを拠点にソリスト及び室内楽奏者として国内外で活躍中。
日本チェロ協会、日本ブラームス協会会員。
